Nam & Lauren
Before Odioba, Nam ran a Vietnamese restaurant called NAM in Ancoats, Manchester. It was there he met Lauren. When the restaurant closed, they moved to Stockport with a different idea, not another restaurant, but a space built around the thing Nam had always cared about most: music, and the way it sounds when you play it properly.
Odioba was a joint decision. Nam and Lauren built it together, from the sound system to team and drinks offerings to the way the space feels when you walk in.
Built by hand. Tuned for the room.
The sound system at Odioba was built by Nam from scratch. Custom horn-loaded cabinets, a rotary mixer, a vinyl-first turntable setup - all designed and tuned to the room. The speakers aren't a feature of the bar. The bar is a feature of the speakers.
This isn't just background music. It's a proper hi-fi system, playing music and records the way they were meant to be heard - warm, full, with every detail intact.
Three floors on Lower Hillgate
Odioba sits in a building on Lower Hillgate, in Stockport's Underbank. Three floors. The bar on the ground floor. Seating and a second sound system on the middle floor. The main sound system, UMA kitchen, and DJ booth on the top floor. Each floor has its own character, but the sound connects them all.
The name, Ōdiobā, is a homonym for "audio bar." It's an independent space that treats music with the same respect as the drinks.
DJs play every Friday and Saturday night, and occasional Sundays. The emphasis is on warmth, on selection, on listening.
